The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

Stephenie Meyer's new book in the Twilight series will be in stores this Saturday, June 5th.

  1. Read it this weekend finally! Though it started out a bit slow, as I got further into it, I found myself really sympathizing with this Bree character, especially since we all know what happens to her at the end. There are a few other new characters that are sort of interesting as well, and it makes me wonder if Stephenie Meyer has more of these "novellas" in the hopper. I think her writing has improved, which is a huge plus. However, I did find myself wondering if a 15 year old runaway-turned-vampire is capable of the type of logic Bree demonstrates here. She's a real thinker. The few seconds I saw her in the movie version of Eclipse had me thinking she was a frightened, timid little girl. Here, not so much. She seems wise beyond her years. It's a quick read (a few hours), so I'd recommend it. My note to Stephenie Meyer: write a novella about Fred. There's a story there.
